Vacations are perfect for listening… to the sound of the waves, to the sound of the wind, to the little voices inside your head.
Today was a real vacation day… no running around, just listening and reading. I slept a little late, walked on the beach, and sat under a grove of trees by Currituck Sound to read for a few hours. I brought along a picnic lunch and a great fantasy read. I just love getting lost in a good book – especially when I can do it sitting by the sea.
Sound of the morning waves on a windblown beach…

My reading spot in Heritage Park….
the area right alongside the sea was too windy!

Windy beach walk as the sun went down…

Thought for the day…
“We cannot direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails.”
~ Bertha Calloway
