One foot in front of the other

“If I had a day that I could give to you, I’d give to you a day just like today.  And if I had a song that I could sing for you, I’d sing a song to make you feel this way.  Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy.”  ~ John Denver

Surprise, surprise, more walking today…  this time a gorgeous, sparkling, warm, energizing, 90-minute spring walk along the rail trail.  I wish I could bottle it for you… that fantastic sunshine on your shoulders, breezes in your hair, music in your ears, perfect spring day. I tried to capture it a little with these pictures taken along the trail…

The rail trail in Harwich winds its way around three ponds.

The first picture is of Long Pond.  Next is a view of Hinckley’s Pond.
The third is a late afternoon shot of Seymour Pond on the way back.
Sing it with me:  “Sunshine on the water looks so lovely…”  lol

Spring along the rail trail…

Before my walk, I spent the morning working on a professional writing agenda.  I hung out in Brewster by the Sea’s gazebo for a few hours working on that plan.  The gardens here are a nice place to relax and strategize, except that they remind me I should probably get working on my own garden when I get home.  🙂  The gardens also provided a pre-dinner interlude of reading by the pool.  Bliss.

Donna and Byron’s gardens…

Walking is a fantastic time for mulling over options, making decisions, planning next steps, and getting myself in a forward-looking mood.  I never tire of it.

“One foot in front of the other” is a mantra I’ll have to keep thinking about as I tackle that writing agenda.  I have so much I’d like to write, and I so want to make a contribution that others will find helpful. I plan to take that spring-inspired new-beginnings feeling into my summer break from teaching and get working on crafting some professional articles, blog posts, and presentations.  Wish me luck!
