It was a lovely day for dilly-dallying.
The day started with a fabulous breakfast, followed by a walk on the beach.
“Walking is also an ambulation of the mind.” ~ Gretel Ehrlich
I’m not much for sitting out in the sun in the middle of the day, so I came back to Brewster by the Sea and hung out in the gardens for a few hours reading. Later, I headed out to see what I would see… a scenic drive took me to Orleans, where I checked out the stores and galleries on Main Street. The beach on that side of the Cape is on the Atlantic Ocean, and I had a lovely pre-dinner walk over there.
“It is impossible to walk rapidly and be unhappy.” ~ Dr. Howard Murphy
After dinner, I stopped in to my room to change to warmer clothes and then – you guessed it – I went back to the beach to watch the sunset.
“I still find each day too short for all the thoughts I want to think, all the walks I want to take, all the books I want to read, and all the friends I want to see.” ~ John Burrough
Tonite, I’m hanging out, watching a movie, and, well, dilly-dallying.
I was thinking today that I take a lot of pictures of the waves, which seems a really silly thing to do. I wish instead that I could capture and bottle the feeling of walking on the beach. And the sounds… I’ve been trying to name and describe those sounds in my head: crash… swoosh… ssss… blurp… gurgle… splash. Impossible.
The pictures will have to do.
