To get to Cape Cod, you cross over Bourne Bridge, a terrifyingly high four-lane feat of engineering that makes you grip the steering wheel tight. At the bottom of the bridge, you immediately enter the Bourne traffic circle, which makes you feel like you’re driving on a bumper car track in a real car. But once you pass through this double test of your resolve, you’re rewarded by the knowledge that you are – finally – on the Cape.
The sun sparkles a little brighter here, welcoming. The trees seem a bit more green, proud of their scruffy appearance. The spring air is clearer; the breezes, more delightful. The waves whisper advice; the roadways offer adventures. Breathe in peace, breath out tension.
On vacation again? Absolutely. (And actually, it’s been a long time.) At the Cape again? Oh, yes!
So what’s the plan? Well, I have in mind a few sights to see, a few places to go, and a few things to do. But there really isn’t a plan… Isn’t that the point?
Here’s one of the things I come here to see…
the sunsets on Paine’s Creek Beach.
A walk on the beach at sunset is truly one of life’s greatest pleasures!

HI Cathy,
So glad you got to the Cape safely and it so beautiful there. I so enjoyed reading your blog and seeing the photo’s. You are like Tara – is gets very worried when we go over bridges. I am always glad when we get to the other side. Thanks for keeping me updated! It’s a beautiful day here also and I hope to do some gardening. Maryellen
