…A little rain must fall.
Okay, it was a LOT of rain, a total wash-out weather wise. I’m talking the wipers-on-high, standing-water-on-the-road, umbrella-useless kind of hours-long downpour. Still, a day on vacation in Cape Cod is a day on vacation in Cape Cod.
I did venture out to do some art-hunting, but had no luck and got drenched in the process. So I came back to my home-away-from-home, changed into dry clothes, and spent the afternoon reading. That’s truly my idea of a good time! I’m reading the beginning of a fantasy series which might be a keeper… Karen Miller’s Innocent Mage. Plus, I’m reading a book on constructivist design (yeah, I’m a geek – I don’t count that as work).
This evening, I went to a nice Celtic church service at St. Mary’s in Barnstable. It was an Episcopal Eucharistic service with music provided by a Celtic harpist. The church was small and really beautiful with lots of dark wood and stained glass. And it had a HUGE garden out back that I checked out briefly, catching a little bunny having dinner and loving the little fountains and fall-fading flowers.
I’m back in my room now, facing the reality that I need to pack up. I have a long drive home tomorrow, but not until one last sure-to-be-fabulous breakfast and – if the weather clears up for a bit – a long walk or two. I really missed them today.
To close for tonight, here’s a Celtic blessing…
Lord, may we be wakeful at sunrise,
to begin a new day with you;
Cheerful at sunset
for having done our work for you;
Thankful at moonrise and under starshine
for the beauty of your universe;
And may we add what little may be in us
to your great world. Amen
